I’m Lorraine Welch, a practising Psychological Therapist.

Specifically I am an ACAT accredited Cognitive Analytic Therapist (CAT) and Supervisor, as well as a fully trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy) Therapist. I am also an MBT (Mentalization Based Therapy) BPC Kite Marked Therapist. I have a professional background and registration in Mental Health Nursing and a BSC in psychology. I have worked in the NHS for 17 years in total.

My work and writing is informed by issues of difference, belonging, identity, relational trauma, intersectionality, and the wider historical, social and cultural contexts that inform them.

I am curious about people, relationships, groups and systems, language and the things we sometimes accept without really looking at.

I created A Curious Route as a home for my writing and information about my psychotherapy practice.

My writing space attempts to name, make sense of and navigate some of life’s dilemmas and complexities. I write about psychology, identity, everyday interactions and the patterns hiding in plain sight.

Here you will find writing that blends professional reflections, lived experiences and observations, alongside ideas and thinking from CAT and other relational approaches to therapy.
